The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) launched its theme for the 2025 General Elections "Promoting Democracy and Leadership Through Your Vote," in a vibrant celebration of the arts. The event included a lively parade with performances by the Malawi Defence Force Band and traditional dancers. During the parade, a song by Lawi, created some time ago, was played to enhance the atmosphere.

Chief Election Officer Andrew Mpesi opened the event, discussing how music is used to promote the theme. He then invited MEC Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja, who introduced the new theme song composed by Evance Zangazanga and the Langwani Band, known as Piksy.

Poet Nyamalikiti Nthiwatiwa performed separately, adding a poetic touch to the celebration. Traditional dancers showcased Malawi’s rich cultural heritage with their vibrant performances.

The 2025 General Elections are scheduled for September 16, 2025. The official campaign will run from July 14 to September 14, 2025, with results announced from September 17 to September 30 for presidential, parliamentary, and council elections.

The event successfully combined music, dance, and poetry to engage and connect with the public.
